Dr. David Tepel was raised in the community of Stewart Manor, NY proudly attending Stewart Manor Elementary School and Sewanhaka High School. For his undergraduate studies, he received his BA in biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Upon graduating from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine with a DMD in May 2006, Dr. Tepel began working in private practice. The practices have included locations in Long Island, Queens, and Manhattan.

 

Dr. Tepel is the Supervising Dentist at the Oral Health Program in the Bureau of Family and Child Health at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH). In this capacity he provides guidance on clinical matters related to dental public health planning, education promotion, and policy initiatives. He works closely with the NYC Department of Education on school-based dental programs for NYC public schools. He has co-authored numerous abstracts presented at major public health conferences.

 

A proud participant in organized dentistry, Dr. Tepel is a member the American Dental Association (ADA), New York State Dental Association (NYSDA), and the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD).  Dr. Tepel is constantly updating his education through continuing education courses and seminars.  In order to continue to evolve as a dentist, he is a regular attendee of the Greater New York Dental Meeting, Greater Long Island Dental Meeting, Yankee Dental Congress, ADA Annual Meeting, National Oral Health Conference, and New York State Oral Health Coalition Meeting, among others.
